NEW YORK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, to play its role in the implementation of resolutions of the Security Council of the UN on the Kashmir conflict.
In his meeting with Ban Ki-moon in New York on Sunday, the prime minister called a plebiscite to resolve the longstanding dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharif also raised the issue of the violation of ceasefire by India at the Line of Control and limit work with the Secretary General of the UN. He urged the UN chief to play its role in order unprovoked ceasefire violations by India.
The UN Secretary General expressed his concern over the tension between Pakistan and India and offered his good offices.
He called for dialogue between Pakistan and India.
Briefing the UN chief on his domestic agenda, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that fighting terrorism is a top priority.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan seeks to have new relationship with Afghanistan. Pakistan is ready to help Afghanistan in the reconciliation process when asked.
The UN Secretary General praised Pakistan’s contribution to the peace efforts of the UN and paid tribute to their peacekeepers.
